NXAI & MAKGADIKGADI SALT PANS

Nxai pan which is part of the vast Makgadikgadi pans just lies north to the gateway of the delta, Maun. The pan itself which is a fossil lake bed is full of acacia and mophane woodlands. This place is rich in historic significance from the late Dr. David Livingstone journals describing its ancient trading routes, to the great artist Thomas Baines painting of the world re-known Baobab trees famously known as the sleeping five which is a frequent tourist destination and camping site. This salt pan widely known for attracting hartebeest, greater kudu, blue wildebeest and birds especially raptors like eagles and hawks. Game viewing is exceptional during rainy seasons of Nov-April.
